Salon Receptionist Duties for 2024

Salon Receptionist duties usually include front desk management, greeting customers, and showing them to their stylists. Salon receptionists also answer clients’ questions, recommend services, are in charge of client communication in person, via phone, or in writing. They also process payments and record transactions in a cash register and salon management software. They must have excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, be able to remain calm in stressful situations, and provide top customer service and support.

Salon Receptionist Duties

 

  • Greet clients on arrival at the salon
  • Show clients to their stylists
  • Answer clients’ telephone calls, emails, and social media messages promptly and courteously
  • Provide callers and clients with detailed descriptions of services and products, packages, and hours of operation
  • Offer complimentary drinks and refreshments to arriving customers
  • Inform stylists about client’s arrival and for what services
  • Welcome walk-ins, answer their questions about services, and schedule appointments based on availability
  • Look after the salon appointment schedule
  • If not using SMS appointment reminders, call clients to remind them of their appointment
  • Call clients who are late for appointments and see if they are running late or are a no-show
  • Inform clients in advance if a staff member is sick and reschedule their appointments
  • Take payments from clients after their appointment
  • Prompt clients to book their next appointment
  • Create and send out reminder messages such as texts and emails to the salon clients, reminding them of their bookings and appointments just in case they have forgotten
  • Notify customers about new offers and services of the salon on a timely basis
  • Up-sell salon retail products when taking payments
  • Check washroom facilities are stocked and clean
  • Keep reception area clean, tidy, and free from hazards
  • Respond to online reviews daily and pass feedback onto management
  • Co-ordinate and help resolve client complaints
  • Properly update clients records by adding email addresses and telephone numbers, to the salon booking software
  • Keep salon retail merchandising stocked and well displayed
  • Order and get salon business cards and brochures
  • Check products in the salon to ensure that they are not out of stock, and inform management of products in shortage in order for them to place orders for more supplies
  • Update salon inventory software records
  • Oversee and update the salon’s social media outlets including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and newsletters
  • Perform salon opening and closing duties to include cash/credit procedures and facility cleaning
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment
  • Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or customers that require attention
  • Perform administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, etc.
