Your floor cleaner will depend on the type of flooring you have, so check the product label to see if it’s specific for wood, linoleum or tile and whether it’s suitable to use on a daily basis.

Invest in glass cleaner for windows and mirrors, as soap and dirt will leave streaks.

Finally, you’ll need a salon-specific sanitizer to clean tools and combs. It might also be helpful to keep the numbers of some local salon cleaning services on hand in case you need to contact them for a deep clean.

Use a cleaning supply template to make a list of the products that you’ll need to keep in stock or better yet, use salon software to track and automatically reorder these supplies for you.

Salon Cleaning Checklist for Employees

Everyone should share responsibility for keeping the salon clean and safe. Unless you have a dedicated cleaning staff, you’ll probably want to create a cleaning schedule.

Start by assigning a salon cleaning duties checklist to each team member. It should be specific to the services they provide and their workspace. A hairdressing salon cleaning checklist will be different from a receptionist’s cleaning checklist.

Daily Hair Salon Cleaning Checklist

One of the easiest ways to organize cleaning in a salon is to divide the duties by room or space, then by category (such as tools, supplies and surfaces).

Here’s a basic salon cleaning schedule template to help you get started:

At workstations:

• Sweep the area after each client
• Sanitize sinks, countertops and chairs after each client service
• Disinfect combs and tools after services

In the main area:

• Clean all floor areas at the end of the day (mop, sweep, vacuum)
• Sanitize door knobs, front desk, etc.
• Refill sanitizer and wipe down contact surfaces in the waiting area
• Clean windows and dust surfaces
• Check ventilation and clean as needed

In the bathroom:

• Restock toilet paper and bathroom supplies
• Deep clean/ disinfect the bathroom

In the back room:

• Wash/sweep/vacuum the floor
